Ruling on Appeal Of Plymouth Man A ruling by the State Supreme Court that a motorist in danger of losing his driver’s license can keep it if he pleads no contest in court and then gets a hearing be fore the Department of Motor Ve hicles on a move to suspend the permit was recently handed down on the appeal of a Plym outh man, Robert Alexander Winesett. Winesett pleaded no contest to a charge of drunken driving in Pasquotank County sometime ago. The Department of Motor Vehi cles suspended his license for a year and at a hearing held at Winesett’s request refused to re turn it. Superior Court Judge Walter Bone held that Winesett should have received his license, to which Chief Justice W. A. Devin, of the Supreme Court, agreed. H? stated that when a defendant pleads nolo contendere a judge can punish him as if he had pleaded guilty. But, he said, the plea allows the defendant “in all other proceedings, civil and crim inal, to assert his innocence and his plea may not be considered as an admission of guilt.” LEGAL NOTICES 'aSmIOTSTRATRIX’SNOTICE Having qualified as adminis tratrix of the Estate of C.
